William Shoucair
Conductor Back
Mr Shoucair is "perhaps the best conductor I've ever played with." Allison Monroe, Flute
Mr. Shoucair is known as a "musician's conductor." Having played in dozens of orchestras, he knows what the musicians want from a conductor in order to make the experience of playing both enjoyable and artistically satisfying. He comes to every rehearsal prepared, knowing exactly what he wants musically and how to achieve it through effective, efficient rehearsing. He feels "the role of the conductor is to help the musicians play their best, have an enjoyable experience while at the same time making an artistic statement. A good conductor must have superb stick technique and be able to show exactly what is wanted with this technique. Musicians learn and enjoy the music by playing it, not stopping every 4th bar to hear the conductor talk and micro-manage the music."
